What is Biblical Wisdom?
Biblical wisdom is different than wisdom. Biblical wisdom is a keen insight into life, a Christian way of dealing with problems, and following God's will and purpose for our life. It is the words from God's mouth.
The beginning of knowledge
The beginning of wisdom is
"To know wisdom and instruction, to understand words of insight, to receive instruction in wise dealing, in righteousness, justice, and equity; to give prudence to the simple, knowledge and discretion to the youth-- Let the wise hear and increase in learning, and the one who understands obtain guidance, to understand a proverb and a saying, the words of the wise and their riddles. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction." -Proverbs 1:1-7 ESV

The Call of Wisdom
"Wisdom cries aloud in the street, in the markets she raises her voice; at the head of the noisy streets she cries out; at the entrance of the city gates she speaks: "How long will scoffers delight in their scoffing and fools hate knowledge? If you turn at my reproof, behold, I will pour out my spirit to you; I will make my words known to you. Because I have called and you refused to listen, have stretched out my hand and no one has heeded, because you have ignored all my counsel and would have none of my reproof, I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when terror strikes you, when terror strikes you like a storm and your calamity comes like a whirlwind, when distress and anguish come upon you. Then they will call upon me, but I will not answer; they will seek me diligently but will not find me. Because they hated knowledge and did not choose to fear the Lord, Would have none of my counsel and despised all my reproof, therefore they shall eat the fruit of their way, and have their fill of their own devices. For the simple are killed by their turning away, and the complacency of fools destroys them; but whoever listens to me will dwell secure and will be at ease, without dread of disaster." -Proverbs 1:20-33 ESV
I don't know about you, but I don't want to ignore the call of wisdom. I don't want to ignore God's counsel. I wouldn't want to be mocked by God or have terror strike me. I want to be secure.
The first step to achieving wisdom:
(Proverbs 8:1, 4, 6, 34). The words Listen and Silent are spelled with the same letters. In order to listen, we must be silent. Sometimes God stays silent until we are ready to listen.
The word listen (listened, listening) is in the NIV Bible 412 times, in the KJV only once. The word hear appears in the KJV 516 times.
The Value of Wisdom
The Value of wisdom is understanding the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God. You will also understand righteousness and justice and equity, every good path. Read Proverbs chapter 2.
The second step to achieving wisdom:
Reading: EXTRA! EXTRA! READ ALL ABOUT IT!!! Reading the Bible will help us listen to the voice of God to gain wisdom. (Joshua 8:34)
A Father's Wise Instruction
The third step to achieving wisdom:
Praying: Praying for God's wisdom will help us attain wisdom. God will lead us. (James 1:5, Proverbs 2:6)
The Blessings of Wisdom
Wisdom is truth. Wisdom dwells with
"And now, O sons, listen to me: blessed are those who keep my ways. Hear instruction and be wise, and do not neglect it. Blessed is the one who listens to me, watching daily at my gates, waiting beside my doors. For whoever finds me finds life and obtains favor from the Lord, but he who fails to find me injures himself; all who hate me love death." -Proverbs 8:32-36
All these blessings you can have by finding wisdom.
The Fourth step to achieving wisdom:
Choose: Choose instruction and knowledge. (Proverbs 8:10)
The Way of Wisdom
Leave your simple ways, and live, and walk in the way of insight. -Proverbs 9:6
When you leave your life of sin and simple ways and live life for Christ and walk in wisdom, insight, and understanding; God will add days and years to your life.
Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be still wiser, teach a righteous man, and he will increase in learning. -Proverbs 9:9
Trying to give instruction to someone who doesn't want it will get you hated. Wise people want more wisdom.
The Fifth Step to Achieving Wisdom:
Words of the Wise
Incline your ear, and hear the words of the wise, and apply your heart to my knowledge, for it will be pleasant if you keep them within you, if all of them are ready on your lips.
That your trust may be in the Lord, I have made them known to you today, even to you. -Proverbs 22:17-19
Hear and listen to wisdom, don't turn away from it. Apply your heart and your life to his knowledge. Put your trust in the Lord. Trust that he will guide you.
The Sixth Step to Achieving Wisdom:
Keep Wisdom: (Proverbs 8:32)
Those who keep the Lord's ways are blessed. Keep wisdom and be blessed.
The Seventh Step to Achieving Wisdom:
Fear the Lord: Fearing the Lord is the
When we fear the Lord and seek wisdom our days will be multiplied and years will be added to our life.
We should seek the Lord and his wisdom. Fearing the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, therefore if we want wisdom we need to fear the Lord. When we seek wisdom we are blessed by the Lord.
